The glass that is mixed in with general household and industrial waste can now be removed and cleaned efficiently and effectively producing a sellable end product for the glass industry. It also offers benefits such as reducing maintenance and repair costs by removing the harsh abrasive glass before it is processed through the system.
The first stage is Nicholls designed Glass Removal System. This works by utilising mechanical methods. The materials are tipped into a hopper which is then sent through a pre-sorting Trommel that will remove the larger pieces of waste. These are returned back into the system or conveyed to a collection area. The glass which is contaminated with fines exits the underside of the Trommel through a chute and can be conveyed to a remote collection point or designated bay.
The second stage is Nicholls designed Glass Cleaning System. The contaminated glass is sent through our unique Air Fall Separator which will remove the lighter materials and then through the final phase of cleaning utilising our Air Knife technology. The fines will be sent back into the system. The cleaned glass is then conveyed to a bin or collection bay.
