Nicholls range of separators are ideal to handle large volumes of paper or cardboard.
Materials and air enter the Separator though and inlet at the top of the unit, they are designed to direct the air flow through a static perforated screen that only allows the conveying air and fine dust to pass through, either to atmosphere or to a dust collector. This allows for the larger waste materials to be separated from the air stream. The air exits the Separator through the outlet either into the atmosphere or through a Filter or Briquetter, depending on the application. The materials travel down under the force of gravity into a Rotary Valve.
The Rotary Valves main function is to create an air tight seal whilst removing the materials from the system. This is achieved by a rotating star-shaped valve with rubber seals along each blade, designed so that at any point during the rotation there is full contact along both sides ensuring an air tight seal. As the product drops into the 'V' shaped sections it is carried round as the blade rotates and drops out through a hole in the bottom of the casing. There are a number of options available after separation such as baling the materials or conveying them to a collection area.
